Abu Dhabi to host major museums congress

A major Congress on the creation, development and management of museums in the Middle East is to be held in Abu Dhabi next June. The Future Museum Congress will run from 7-9th June and will bring together top international speakers and exhibitors from around the world to discuss latest innovations and solutions in museums, and to showcase the latest systems, services and equipment for the fast developing museum business in the Middle East and North Africa.

The organisers, Turret Middle East, today issued a Call for Papers inviting speakers and companies to put forward topics for presentation at the Future Museums Congress.  “Our objective is to create the largest exchange of knowledge for all those involved in museum creation and management” says Event Director Bob Denton.

At the core of Abu Dhabi’s twenty-one-year plan is the intent to become the cultural hub of the MENA (Middle East and North Africa) region, and to this end major new museums are being built over the next few years.  The Etihad national airline connects Abu Dhabi with fifty destinations and it is also served by thirty other companies, making the city a hub for the region - a region that boasts many other newly-built or refurbished museums and heritage centres.

Future Museums will be a unique blend of keynote addresses from museum luminaries, a high-level conference drawing speakers and delegates from all over the world, a broad-based social programme for those speakers and delegates, and an exhibition featuring all the latest services and solutions for museum management.
